The Executive Unit for IDPs Camps in Marib said, on Sunday, that UN organizations and international relief organizations have not responded to the distress calls they launched since the beginning of last September to rescue the residents of Abdiya, south of the governorate.

In a report released at a press conference, the camp administration clarified that these organizations did not fulfill their humanitarian duty towards the besieged residents of the Abdiya district and the newly displaced people from the southern districts of Ma’rib, which led to the aggravation of the humanitarian situation, which threatens to lead to a major humanitarian catastrophe.

She added that the gap in needs in the shelter sector was 96 percent, while the gap in water and environmental sanitation was 92 percent, and in the field of food security and non food items 75 percent.

The Executive Unit considered this disregard as evidence of the complicity and leniency of the UN organizations with the Houthi militia, and a deliberate failure in their humanitarian duty, especially with some of them linked to a central administration in Sanaa that is subject to the directives of the Houthi militia leaders.

The report revealed the documentation of the displacement of more than 3000 families from the southern districts of Ma’rib governorate since the beginning of last September, due to the deteriorating security conditions, the bombing of villages and homes by the Houthi terrorist militia with ballistic missiles and various heavy weapons, and the continuation of hostilities, violations and abuses that affected civilians and their property.

He noted that this number is preliminary and monitoring teams are still working in the field to count the rest in light of the continuous displacement in various directorates due to the continued escalation of the Houthi militia south of Marib Governorate.

The Director of the Executive Unit for IDPs Camps in Marib Saif Muthanna, confirmed that the Al Abdiyyah district is facing a humanitarian catastrophe due to the violations, abuse and liquidations carried out by the terrorist Houthi militia against the sons of Abdiya.

He pointed out that UN organizations and international relief bodies spend most of the funds they obtain on behalf of the displaced in Yemen in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, and only crumbs reach the displaced in Marib.
