Today, Sunday, the Houthi militia issued the final verdict against the artist, Intisar Al Hammadi and her colleagues, in prison for 5 years against Al Hammadi and two of her companions, according to human rights sources, while her fourth colleague was imprisoned for a full year.
Al Hammadi was subjected to a mock trial by the Houthi militia, who were charged with a series of moral charges, far from the media.
Intisar Al Hammadi was kidnapped when she was on her way with her colleagues to a photo session on February 20.
The artist, born to a Yemeni father and an Ethiopian mother, has been working as a model for 4 years, and has acted in two Yemeni TV series in 2020.
Family members previously told Human Rights Watch that she is the sole breadwinner for her family of four, including her blind father and her brother who has a physical disability.
Last May, Amnesty International reported that Al Hammadi had been forced to confess to several crimes, including drug possession and prostitution.
Human Rights Watch confirmed that the Houthis forced her to sign a document while blindfolded during interrogation
